There is no single right way to make a home. The things that surround you should bring warmth, tell stories, and reflect who you are and what you love. We love to decorate with color, memories, inherited treasures, old finds, and pieces made by hand. Woodworking, painting, furniture refinishing, and upholstery are all skills you can learn as you go. Every restored piece becomes part of the story, and every heirloom carries the memory of someone who came before, while becoming useful and beautiful again. Old things deserve to be appreciated for both what they were and what they can still become. Be brave and fill your life with color!

Houses I'd Love to Wander Into
An inspirational space does not have to be grand or perfectly designed. Nor does it have to exist in real life for that matter. It might be a cheerful kitchen from a Studio Ghibili film, a cozy cottage from a magical realm imagined by Tolkien, or someplace straight out of Narnia. Sure these places don't actually exist, but in the real world they can still serve as inspiration. By surrounding yourself with meaningful and colorful things, things made with care, intent, and a creative spirit, you can capture the essence of these whimsical and magical spaces. The feelings they inspire are wonderfully real. They encourage us to think beyond ordinary decorating rules and ask a more meaningful question: What makes a home feel like home - I'd say it's a room filled with the things that make you happy, things that impart a feeling of comfort and peace. Home is Color, personal artwork, unexpected details, warmth, memory, good food, cuddly cats, the people you love, and the sense that every object has found its way home for a reason.

Mochi, R.I.P
We lost our beloved Mochi suddenly in January 2025, likely from a cardiac condition, and we miss her very much. More recently, little Miso joined our household, and in so many ways, she reminds us of Mochi. We cannot help but feel that Mochi somehow guided Miso to us from Heaven.

Arrietty, R.I.P
Arrietty came to us in 2025 as a tiny, sickly kitten who quickly found her way into our hearts. With her oversized ears and adorably crossed eyes, she was impossible not to love. We lost her in the spring of 2026 due to a congenital bowel defect. Although her life was tragically short, Arrietty left a lasting mark on our hearts and remains a tender part of our family’s story.

Mowgli: Resident Barn Cat & Mouser
Mowgli is our sweet, shiny black garden and barn cat. He loves to follow us around the garden and settle among the okra plants, where he keeps a watchful eye on the vegetables, and the occasional mouse. After overcoming cancer earlier this year, Mowgli has returned to his duties as one of the farm’s most cherished little guardians.
